Professional Certificate Equivalency

Overview

The American University for Training and Professional Studies, a private institution registered and licensed in the United States of America — Arizona, is committed to supporting the careers of trainees and professionals from various countries by recognizing their qualifications and practical and academic experience. The Professional Equivalency System evaluates and documents the academic and professional background of applicants in line with international quality standards, granting a professional equivalency certificate recognized by the university.

Scope of Equivalency

Professional equivalency covers the following degree levels:

  • Professional Diploma
  • Professional Bachelor's
  • Professional Master's
  • Professional Doctorate

Basis for Equivalency

Professional certificates are recognized based on one of the following two paths:

1. Equivalency Through Academic or Professional Certificates

  • Holding a university or professional degree from an institution recognized by the university
  • The degree must be in the same or a closely related field to the scope of equivalency requested
  • The degree must correspond to the required academic level (diploma, bachelor's, master's, or professional doctorate)

2. Equivalency Through the Expert Committee

  • Available when an equivalent university or professional degree is not held, based on demonstrated competence and practical experience
  • The Expert Committee evaluates documented practical and professional experience
  • Applicants may submit a thesis, dissertation, or specialized research in the relevant field
  • An interview or assessment may be required
  • The Scientific Committee then issues a decision to accept, reject, or request additional requirements

Application Requirements

  • Complete the Professional Certificate Equivalency application form
  • Submit a copy of academic and professional certificates (if applicable)
  • Submit a detailed CV
  • Provide documents proving practical experience, research, or theses where the Expert Committee route applies
  • Pay a $100 evaluation and review fee to the Scientific Committee (for evaluation purposes only; not counted toward total equivalency fees)

Evaluation Mechanism & Decision

  • The Scientific Committee receives the equivalency application and its attachments
  • Documents are reviewed for validity and compliance with requirements
  • A decision is issued within 10–30 days from receipt of the complete file
  • The Committee's decisions are final and binding

Benefits

  • An authenticated, officially stamped professional equivalency certificate issued by the university
  • Enhanced academic and professional standing, locally and internationally
  • Access to other university programs — memberships, fellowships, conferences, and training

General Provisions

  • The university reserves the right to reject any application that does not meet its requirements and standards
  • The university may request additional documents or evidence as needed
  • The equivalency system is periodically reviewed in line with international standards and accreditation requirements

If your qualifications or professional experience don't map neatly onto a traditional degree, equivalency offers a structured, internationally recognized path to formal recognition.
